The last wild river in Europe has moulded the Val de Loire and LaMarmittière is in the middle of that real heaven.
If the Val de Loire used to be the French Kings' land, where they built outstanding castles, it is thanks to its mild climate, to the softness of
its light, but also to the vineyards on the slopes of hills and to the eating habits Pantagruel and Gargantua used to enjoy with no limits.
At less than 60 km you will be able to visit sumptuous castles: Chenonceaux, Amboise, Blois, Chambord, Cheverny, Azay-le-Rideau, Loches,
Villandry and Chaumont with their prestigious gardens and also strange cave dwellings.
Very close to Amboise, stop you to visit the Clos Lucé Manor that François the 1st fitted out for his friend, painter and scientist Léonard de Vinci who spend the rest of his life there. Today the manor is a museum with a collection of surprising models realized from the master's avant-gardist
inventions ( as the flying machine ).
In that " Garden of France " with various landscapes you will do marvellous walks, rides, in the forest, along the riverside, into the skies
thanks to the multicoloured hot-air balloons...You will also enjoy the many lakes where you will be able to do wind-surfing, swimming, boating, and even sometimes water-skiing.
The Touraine has a singing name which suits it marvellously well. There all is harmony, softness and peace.
" Shame on those who would not admire my merry, my beautiful Touraine where the seven valleys stream with water and wine." Balzac.
